The U.S. Fire Administration gathers data a variety of sources to provide information and analyses on the status and scope of the fire problem in the United States. Their data, taken from over 350,000 house fires in 2016, found that 50.3% started in the kitchen. 9.6% due to heating issues, 6.6% due to carelessness, and 6.5% due to electrical issues...see the entire list here.
